It’s been a long time, hasn’t it? Dave’s back from Japan, and returned with a cane. He’s due for knee surgery in a few weeks. So, it has been a little quiet on the Reily front for a couple months, but we’re getting ready to get back into full gear soon.
We’re still working on getting that Podcast working…. the internets are sometime confusing. In other news, we’ll be playing a few shows in Seattle coming up relatively soon… right after Dave’s knee replacement surgery recovery is over. We’ll update you as to dates as soon as we get it all nailed down.
The new album is still in the works and we hope to have most of it finished in the next two months. It’s not yet titled, but it is going to be your favorite jam of the year when we finish it.
We’ve moved into our new digs for the next week to begin basic tracking for the new record. The studio (Blackberry Hill) is an amazingly beautiful place in Eugene. Set above the hills of central Oregon, it’s a great place to be creative. We’ll update the blog often and get some pictures (and maybe some video) up in the next few days.
The songs we’re going to record are halfway between Music From Big Pink, Muel Variations, and Moondance… Wish us luck.
We’re big fans of the Big Take Over, one of the nations best magazines about all things rock and/or roll. They’ve been a steady source of information about underground music for years and Grant reads it cover to cover every month.
So, we couldn’t be more excited when we opened Big Take Over #60 and saw that they reviewed our record Track Stars & The Headphone Magnificence. What’s even better, they gave it an amazing review! But don’t take our word for it…
Wow… we couldn’t be more honored! Big Take Over #60 is on stands across the country, so make sure to pick up a copy. Dude, it’s got the band that will change your life on the cover. But alas, no mention of Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head. Oh well, next time.
A couple shows are coming up in the Pacific Northwest. We’ll blog ’bout ‘em later.
we’re quickly ramping up work for a new ep (maybe even two…) and we’re starting to think about doing some shows this fall in Japan… again.
we wanted to thank everyone who’s bought the record so far… the response has been amazing.
we’re hoping to do a few more shows this spring before we head to new york to start recording. we’re also going to start posting more media and demos on the site.
here’s a nice small cellphone clip someone sent to us from our last show at the high dive. grant’s early teenage years of only listening to Hendrix and Zep finally paid off. the only version of “letters to tiffany” that will EVER shred this much…
we’ve been getting more radio play thanks to KEXP’s Audioasis. they cranked out “they world that they thought they had (is now ours instead)” last week and said some nice things about the record.
what else are we doing? since the duo of dave & grant can’t recreate the wonders of the new record by themselves live, we’re putting a band together, so that’s taking most of our time.
we’re also thinking of doing some international shows as a duo, with a few likely warm up duo shows before in seattle. we’ll keep you updated.
thanks to everyone who’s bought the record already and all the nice things you’ve said about it.
finally, in the random yet funny category, some random german person has posted a song of ours on his new mixtape. check it out at:
